Part of the new generation of winemakers that are emerging in the Langhe, Alberto Burzi is one of the most ambitious and promising on the scene, making wines with great balance and personality. Alberto comes from a family of winegrowers. His grandfather Luigi was one of the original founders of Terre del Barolo, a local cooperative that was selling grapes to winemakers.
Chiara Condello is a young maverick winemaker from Predappio (Emilia-Romagna) who is fast developing a stellar reputation. Chiara studied Economics at Bocconi University in Milan and then, at the age of 24, she took over her family estate fully committed to not only preserving her family winery, but also to elevate the reputation of the Sangiovese grape to new heights.
Livia Fontana’s family cantina (named ‘Fontanin’) was founded in 1820. Livia is the 8th generation of her family at the helm working with her sons Michele and Lorenzo and still following the same philosophy as her ancestors. Livia is regularly name-checked by purveyors of the finest Piemonte wines by those ‘in the know’ in the US and the Nordics where she is fast developing quite a cult following.
Out on his own in the highest reaches of Neviglie, Roberto (‘Roby’) Garbarino is a true 'Jedi Knight' of artisan winemaking. Roby’s vintage Alta Langa crafted in the traditional champagne method with extended 30-40 months ageing in bottle is a compelling alternative to grower champagne at a fraction of the price. Roby moved to the Langhe 18 years ago after completing his oenological studies in Turin.
