Giovanni Canonica is a winemaker that needs no introduction to Piedmont aficionados. From his four hectares of vineyards, two stunning single cru wines are produced: Barolo Paiagallo and Barolo Grinzane Cavour. The “Paiagallo” vineyard, located at an altitude of about 350 meters above sea level, sits just in front the prestigious cru “Cannubi” directly on the hill above Barolo.
Giovanni Canonica produces his wines in his tiny cellar right under his Agriturismo in the heart of Barolo. The tiny production, half of which is allocated to the Japanese market, sells out immediately.
