Tiziano Grasso only started to bottle his own wine from the oldest vines in his perfectly situated vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba in 2012. We are honoured to have met and tasted with him at the cantina before his terribly sad loss in May 2017. La Briccolina is an unparalleled natural amphitheatre located within a stone’s throw of Cascina Francia where Monfortino is produced.
The cantina now run by Tiziano’s wife Simona and his son Daniele follows traditional vinification methods and is pure ‘garagiste’, output is a mere 3,000 bottles and the single Barolo Briccolina produced here is simply ethereal.
